HTC explains delays to HTC One launch, promises UK delivery this week

The HTC One was supposed to launch here in the UK ten days ago, and despite adverts for it being just about everywhere, the new flagship Android smartphone is extremely difficult to track down.

Thankfully the premium phone will make it to the UK this week, HTC has confirmed. This will still give the Taiwanese company a slight head-start over one of its biggest rivals, Samsung, who will launch the Galaxy S4 on April 26th.

As we approached the original launch date of March 15th rumours were rife that the phone would either be delayed or in limited supply, and those rumours proved true. The reason most commonly thrown around was that HTC couldn’t get enough stock of its new UltraPixel camera part, however the company insists this isn’t the case.

The HTC One launch has apparently been delayed because of incredible demand. HTC explained, somewhat boastfully, in a statement;

“HTC has seen unprecedented demand for and interest in the new HTC One, and the care taken to design and build it is evidenced in early reviews. The new HTC One will roll out in the UK, Germany and Taiwan next week and across Europe, North America and most of Asia-Pacific before the end of April.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience, and believe that once they have the phone in their hands they will agree that it has been worth the wait.”

So, UK folk should be able to pick up a HTC One before the end of March. Those in the US will unfortunately have to wait until the end of April time, along with some European regions and Asia-Pacific markets.
