Nintendo Announces Mini NES with 30 Classic Games!

Nintendo has announced a “new” console which is sure to delight retro players because it’s actually a big throwback to the original NES!

We say big, but in fact the new console, called the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System is actually a palm-sized miniature replica of the beloved eighties games machine that comes packed with 30 classic titles such as the original Super Mario Bros. trilogy and The Legend of Zelda.

First revealed on the Nintendo of America Twitter earlier this afternoon, the Mini NES can be connected to a TV with HDMI lead which is included and will get its power from an USB lead to a mains adaptor. It’s also bundled in its retro packaging with one classic NES style controller – a second can be purchased separately to enjoy two-person and co-op classic gaming!

Unfortunately the consoles cartridge port is just for show, and original games can’t be popped in. However, just looking at the line-up shows that despite the console being short of stature you won’t be short of any fun. It’s a virtual hall of fame of games:

  • Balloon Fight
  • BUBBLE BOBBLE
  • Castlevania
  • Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
  • Donkey Kong
  • Donkey Kong Jr.
  • DOUBLE DRAGON II: THE REVENGE
  • Dr. Mario
  • Excitebike
  • FINAL FANTASY
  • Galaga
  • GHOSTS‘N GOBLINS
  • GRADIUS
  • Ice Climber
  • Kid Icarus
  • Kirby’s Adventure
  • Mario Bros.
  • MEGA MAN 2
  • Metroid
  • NINJA GAIDEN
  • PAC-MAN
  • Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
  • StarTropics
  • SUPER C
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • Tecmo Bowl
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

The Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System is expected to go on worldwide sale on November the 11th and will cost $59.99 (around £45 in British Pounds) with extra control pads costing $9.99 each.
