Blackberry Playbook to feature dedicated Facebook app

RIM has left social-networkers with palms wetted after announcing a full version of Facebook will be arriving for its Blackberry PlayBook – specifically designed to make the most out of the 7” tablet’s display and features.

The Blackberry World Conference in Florida, which kicks off today, will be the first place to get friendly with the social app for PlayBook which will allow direct tablet-to-Facebook transfer of HD content and photos.

Another feature hugely improved is chat capability, which the Facebook app on Blackberry Playbook will address. Presenting open chats and contacts side by side with notifications handily placed along the navigation bar for a maximized chat experience on the tablet. With no dedicated Facebook apps for other leading tablet platforms including Android Honeycomb and Apple’s iOS, this is real bragging rights for RIM.

If you aren’t at the conference however, fear not (and delete that miserable status!). The app is now available on the Playbook App World for those fortunate enough to have one already. and it looks set to be the fullest version of Facebook available to handheld gadgets – be the first to let your Friends list know you’ve got it!

RIM previously revealed that BBM (Blackberry Messenger) will also be arriving on the Playbook tablet – Read our article on the announcement HERE.
