Google seems to be going from strength to strength recently. Not only has the search giant just primed its big social networking assault on Facebook, Google+, it’s also expanding its US smartphone market share with some strong industry figures singing Android’s praises.
According to new figures, Android’s smartphone market share gre 5 per cent between February and May, expanding from an already-winning 33 per cent, to an even larger 38.1.
In joint second place second place is Apple and BlackBerry makers RIM, who both command around a quarter of the market share each. That said, RIM’s tally has dropped by around 4 per cent, while Apple’s has grown by 1.4. Microsoft has also lost a slither of its foothold, with 1.9 per cent of its market share dissintegrating over the same period of time.
