We’re hearing a lot about HTC’s upcoming dual-core Ruby handset in recent weeks. Firstly leaked photos and spec emerged. Then we got news it would compete against Samsung’s Galaxy S II variant Hercules in an October 16th double-header. Now after we’ve found ourselves becoming attached to the precious name, here comes the swerve – the HTC Ruby will become the HTC Amaze 4G.
Emphasising the 4th-gen smartphone specs of the mobile formerly known as Ruby – the HTC Amaze 4G will be the gem in the collection of T-Mobile’s HTC line-up, overshadowing even the HTC Sensation, and packing a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor. We’d imagine it’ll come with a version of Sense for Android which is HTC Standard, as well as 1GB of RAM, generous 4.3” qHD display, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, as well as 8-megapixel rear shooter (with dedicated buttons). For connectivity there’s Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and, of course, 4G.
T-Mobile recently released some publicity for its recommended “Back to School” gadgets, which included the HTC Amaze 4G (still named Ruby back then) and touted a speculated October 26th release date. Will we see the promo revised, with new name and more importantly a public launch date which is given the official nod by HTC.
