Samsung Galaxy S II now free on contract with Carphone Warehouse

  • by

The top selling smartphone in the UK, the Samsung Galaxy S II, is now available FREE on contracts at the Carphone Warehouse.

As a part of their huge Android sale, Carphone Warehouse has dropped the standalone payment for the handset itself, making it free on Vodafone contracts (24 month) starting at just £30 per month. For £30 a month you’ll get 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB internet data to use on your snazzy new Android smartphone.

The Galaxy S II has just overtaken its predecessor, the Galaxy S, in terms of how fast the handsets have been sold. Over three million Galaxy S II smartphones have been purchased in just 55 days – something that took the original Galaxy S 85 days to do!

If you head over to the Carphone Warehouse’s Android sale you’ll also find some more cracking smartphones on the cheap. The HTC Desire S is now free on contracts starting at £20, and you can also pick up the Samsung Galaxy Ace for £199.95 on pay-as-you-go – that’s a saving of £100! We’d strongly recommend checking out the Galaxy Ace, especially if you want Samsung’s Android quality without the big price tag.

The Samsung Galaxy S II remains as the fastest dual-core Android smartphone available, thanks to its 1.2GHz processor and 1GB RAM. It runs the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system, with Samsung’s unique TouchWiz user interface which brings dedicated e-reader, games and social “hubs” as well as one of the best mobile web browsers out there.

You can check out how the Galaxy S II fared against dual-core competition from the HTC Sensation and LG Optimus 2X in our comparison article here.
