Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini confirmed by JK Shin

  • by

The Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini has been confirmed by the most official of official sources, JK Shin.

Shin, head of mobile communications for Samsung, confirmed to South Korean news outlets that his company would be revealing the Galaxy SIII Mini at a press event tomorrow in Germany.

Last week we reported on an invitation to an official Samsung event, which when translated from German hinted at something big being something small, and vice versa. The trademark ‘S’ logo from Samsung’s Galaxy S series of phones was there, and it didn’t take long for us to figure out what the Korean company was hinting at.

Mr Shin didn’t confirm anything else about the phone when speaking to the press, but we’ve since seen it pop up in retail systems. The phone has been kept a secret pretty well so far, but we do know that it will feature a 4-inch display. Samsung’s Galaxy SIII has been undeniably popular since its launch earlier in the year, but there is still a section of the market that prefers the smaller 4-inch smartphone – cough, iPhone, cough – so Samsung is looking to target those consumers.

We’re also hearing that the phone will be missing some of the flagship features found in the S3, such as NFC. The Mini is expected to be priced considerably cheaper than its bigger brother, so we won’t be surprised to see Samsung slim down the features list in order to achieve the lower price point.

One thing is for sure, and that’s that we will find out tomorrow. Stay tuned!
