Samsung will launch the Galaxy S4 in New York on March 14th, but just in case New Yorkers had missed the boat, they’ve whacked up some huge promotional billboards right in the centre of Times Square to taunt the prospect of a brand new top of the range Android smartphone.
‘BE READY 4 THE NEXT GALAXY’ the adverts demand, just as the media invites did a week ago. Two giant billboard posters, one in black and the other in white, sit in one of the busiest spots in New York. Why two different coloured posters? Samsung is going with black and white variants for its next superphone.
It looks as though Samsung will be moving away from the Pebble Blue used with the Galaxy S3 and S3 Mini last year – a colour choice which surprised us and many others in the tech world. The switch back to good old faithful black and white models looks to be in the balance, although we’ve also heard whispers of new colours being added in the future – ‘garnet red’ is a favourite of Samsung’s.
The number 4 also hints that Samsung is no longer going with its roman numeral numbering system. Although many refer to the phones numerically, they’ve technically been the Galaxy S II and Galaxy S III.
As for the phone itself, well, we’ve heard plenty. We think a 5-inch Full HD display, Android Jelly Bean 4.2, 2GB of RAM and new eye-tracking features are all pretty much certain. A 13 megapixel camera and octa-core processor are also rumoured, along with an all-plastic design.
We’ll find out for sure in exactly one week’s time!
