Archos has announced a partnership with UK network Three to bring 3G connectivity for the forthcoming G9 Android Honeycomb Tablets.
The latest range of Android powered tablet devices to come from French manufacturer Archos feature the ability to slot in a slim line USB dongle for 3G internet connectivity. Three will be providing 3G connectivity on a pay-as-you-go basis for the new G9 tablets, though not on a contract basis.
“We are delighted to offer our customers an immediate 3G connectivity on the best 3G network in the UK” , said Henri Crohas, CEO of ARCHOS. “This partnership allows our customers to surf on the move at a very attractive with a high download speed. ”
“This agreement is the first in a series that would cover, over time, most of the areas of product distribution ARCHOS. ARCHOS is continually seeking to benefit its customers the best deals at the best prices. In this context, the Group is currently working on establishing agreements with local operators to provide 3G the best solution possible. ”
The 3G dongle is not bundled with the G9 tablets, so we’re presuming that Three will be offering the dongle along with a prepay SIM card that can be topped up like a mobile phone or broadband dongle.
Archos announced the G9 tablet range back in June and they now have a tentative UK and European release schedule of September. Available in 8 and 10.1-inch sizes and with both flash and mechanical hard drive storage options available, the G9 range has been billed as the cheapest Android Honeycomb tablets yet. Dual-Core processors made by Texas Instruments provide 1.5GHz of power, making these tablets very quick and capable, especially given the price.
