Windows Phone 7 hardware spec revealed – High standards to be met

Microsoft’s annual MIX ’11 conference has revealed the heightened spec requirements for Windows Phone 7 devices, and Winrumors has shared a slide entitled “Hardware Foundation” which sets the expectedly high standard that has mobile manufacturers’ work cut out for them.

The presentation at the conference in Las Vegas states the following hardware requirements for a Windows 7 Phone:

Capacitive Touch – 4 or more contact points

Sensors – A-GPS, Accelerometer, Compass, Light, Proximity, Gyro

Camera – 5 megapixels or more

Multimedia – Common detailed specs, Codec, acceleration

Memory – 256MB RAM or more, 8GB Flash or more

GPU – DirectX acceleration

CPU – Qualcomm MSM7x30, MSM8x55, 800Mhz of higher

Other features to note are Hardware buttons including Back, Start and Search functions and display at screen resolution of 800 x 480.
