Orange has announced exclusively that they will be stocking the Dual-Core Motorola Atrix handset, and it will be available “early May”.
We got our hands on the 4G version of the Atrix, imported all the way from America, just last week at the Gadget Show Live exhibition. The handset is touted by Orange as the “World’s Most Powerful Smartphone”. It packs a Dual-Core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, and runs on Android 2.2 (FroYo).
Orange are offering the Atrix for free on 24 month contracts starting at £35pm, which includes 600 minutes, unlimited texts, 750MB browsing, 50 MMS and unlimited access to Orange’s network of Wi-Fi hotspots.
To promote the release of the handset, Orange will be offering the ‘Work and Play’ kit for a reduced price of £49.99 along with the handset on contract. Existing Orange customers who switch to the Atrix will get the kit completely free. Normally retailing at £129.99, the Work and Play kit comprises of a remote control, mouse, HD multimedia dock and a keyboard. The keyboard and mouse hook up to the HD multimedia dock, which allows you to dock your phone and output Video, Music and Games to a HD television via HDMI out.
One of the biggest selling points for the Atrix is the ability to dock it to a unique “Lapdock”, giving you a netbook experience which is powered by the phone. The Motorola Lapdock provides an 11.6-inch screen and full netbook-style QWERTY keyboard for mobile computing. Those who take out the Atrix on an Orange Solo 50 business contract will receive the accessory free. Orange will be offering the accessory at reduced prices on different tariffs, where the more you pay each month will reduce the price you pay for the accessory outright.
