Google Chrome OS says no thanks to Tablets

  • by

Google has confirmed that they will not be putting the Google Chrome OS on to tablet devices!

The news was broken by Google Chrome’s Vice President, Sundar Pichai at Google IO, stating that even though the operating system is easy to use and in no way power hungry, it will not make the switch from laptops and netbooks to the tablet format.

The quote reads:

“We are fully, 100 percent focused on laptops. Most of the web usage — greater than 90 percent — is on laptops. That’s what we’re working on today, and we have no other plans on any other form factors.”

This is an interesting move by Google but it shows just how focused they are on providing a great laptop experience, and also with Android Honeycomb 3.1 and Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS we hope) announced, is there any need for the Chrome OS to turn to Tablets?
