Sony has announced that it will start to re-launch the PlayStation Network today.
According to Sony, it will be a phased relaunch that will begin in the US, then Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.
It has now been more than three weeks since Sony discovered unauthorised access to its network and personal data from millions of its members was stolen. Sony has now assured its users that the network is more secure than ever, and has been extensively testing it to ensure there is no repeat episode.
A lot of users have been disappointed to say the least, as Sony took almost two days to inform the Police and more frustratingly for users almost a week to report the security breach.
All PSN users will now receive a “Welcome Back” package which will include some premium content to ease the pain of no online gaming for the past few weeks.
Kazuo Hirai, Sony’s executive deputy president has said “I’d like to send my sincere apologies for the inconvenience this incident has caused you, and want to thank you for all the kind patience you’ve shown as we worked through the restoration process”
