HTC – Quietly Backtracking…
Yesterday, HTC announced that they would not be bringing the Android Gingerbread update to the original Desire handset. The announcement read:
“Our engineering teams have been working hard for the past few months to find a way to bring Gingerbread to the HTC Desire without compromising the HTC Sense experience you’ve come to expect from our phones. However, we’re sorry to announce that we’ve been forced to accept there isn’t enough memory to allow us both to bring Gingerbread and keep the HTC Sense experience on the HTC Desire. We’re sincerely sorry for the disappointment that this news may bring to some of you.”
However, within 24 hours it seems HTC has changed their minds! Earlier today they posted another message on their Facebook page, this time confirming that the update WILL be available on the Desire.
“Contrary to what we said earlier, we are going to bring Gingerbread to HTC Desire”
The news has set HTC fans’ hearts a-flutter, with many people even claiming that HTC’s Facebook page has been hacked and the message posted in jest.
We’re not complaining though, and kudos to HTC for listening to the voices of their customers. We look forward to getting our HTC Desire updated to Gingerbread, are you?
