Nokia Windows Phone: Launch date revealed

  • by
Despite squeezing the MeeGo-powered N9 out yesterday for kicks, there’s no debating where Nokia’s real futures lie. The company has jumped squarely into bed with Microsoft and has plans on shipping 125,000 Windows Phone handsets by the end of the year.

Now that dream seems like much more of a possibility, as the launch date for the new range has been set for October 26th. We don’t know how many WP Nokia handsets will drop, but that’s the date of the company’s Keynote speech at the two-day Nokia World event – an expo in which it always unveils its new phones.

CEO Stephen Elop has stated recently that he aims for at least one new Windows Phone to hit the market bearing Nokia branding this year. If the phone is unveiled in late October, you can expect it to be released in late November, although that would be a quick turnaround for a company famous for releasing phones months after the official launch.
