The recently announced MeeGo packing N9 handset may never see the light of day in the UK, if the phone’s availability page at Nokia.com is to be believed.
Several people have been tweeting about the severe lack of the UK in the availability list on Nokia Europe’s website. Despite the UK being missing Australia and Hong Kong are both there, even though they are a surprisingly long distance away from Europe.
To add some more rumour to the pot, Nokia’s Vice President Victor Saegis recently said that the Netherlands, alongside five other countries, would be the first to receive the new Nokia WP7 handsets.
These countries are the UK, Italy, Germany, France and Spain, and are all absent from the N9 availability list. All the signs seem to point to the N9 skipping over a good few places in Europe. Is this Nokia trying to create a space for their WP7 handsets including the ‘SeaRay’, a very N9-esque WP7 device? We will have to wait and find out.
