Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 platform has hit the 25,000 apps milestone in its Marketplace, windowsphoneapplist.com reports.
We reported just one month ago that developers had added 20,000 apps to the Marketplace, meaning that just over 5000 individual apps have been added in the last month. It’s an impressive growth rate for the newest smartphone operating system on the market, which launched last October with just 1000 apps available to download.
Microsoft now reports that it has over 40,000 Windows Phone 7 app developers on board, and they receive over 100 new app submissions every day. The Redwood tech giant also say they are taking a different approach to filling their app store; carefully selecting apps and filtering out unnecessary ones to ensure there is more ‘quality’ than ‘quantity’ in their Marketplace. Perhaps a stab at Apple and their large collection of fart related apps, perhaps not.
It’s been a day for App market milestones, as earlier today we reported that Apple’s App Store for iPad had just reached 100,000 apps. We also heard yesterday that over 4.5 billion Android apps have been downloaded, so it’s a booming market right now.
