Social Networking giant Facebook has reached out to those who don’t own the latest smartphone and offered a basic program to access Facebook from a mobile phone.
Facebook for Every Phone is a basic Java application which will work on any mobile phone that supports Java. Even if you don’t own a Blackberry, iPhone, Android or any other type of smartphone, chances are that your phone can use Java. Over 2500 regular mobile phones support Java and therefore will be able to use the Facebook for Every Phone app.
The social network is aware that while the app will work great on more basic phones, the regions in the world likely to use such mobile phones are the ones where mobile internet surfing costs the most. To combat this and celebrate the release of the app, Facebook are offering 90 days of completely free usage to anyone who installs it on their mobile phone.
You can get Facebook for Every Phone right now by going to m.facebook.com on your phone’s internet browser and scrolling to the bottom of the page to find the option, or by going to d.facebook.com/install. The app will also be available in select app stores such as GetJar, so if you’ve got a more fancy phone you can get it there.
