Pictured above, looking pretty in pink, is to be the first smartphone running Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) sold in stores. This phone scores more firsts; it’s the first Windows Phone made by new hardware partner Fujitsu and the first waterproof Windows Phone.
Back in May when Microsoft unveiled the next iteration of Windows Phone 7 software, Mango, they also announced three new hardware partners who would be manufacturing smartphones to be released with the new software. They were Acer, Fujitsu and ZTE and today we have discovered the first Mango handset to be sold will be from Fujitsu on the KDDI network in Japan.
Microsoft showed off the new waterproof Fujitsu handset alongside models from Acer and ZTE at their Worldwide Partner Conference last week, all three of which are pictured above. We believe the Acer device that was on show was the Acer W4 – a Windows Phone with a 3.6-inch WVGA screen, 5-megapixel camera, 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 8GB storage and Mango software.
Though we currently don’t have any specifications for the Fujitsu model it will meet the strict list of requirements that Microsoft set for Windows Phones. Fujitsu’s waterproof handset will join the Acer W4, a Samsung Galaxy S II-like device, the HTC Eternity and others from LG and ZTE when the range of Windows Phone Mango devices launch starting this September.
