Three weeks after the social network started and fifteen days since the launch of the official Android app; the Google+ app for iPhone has finally reached the Apple App Store for download.
Google+ is now a free app available to download for iPhone and iPod Touch now (there’s currently no iPad version), bringing Huddles, Circles, Hangouts and Streams to your Apple gadgets.
“Google+ for mobile makes sharing the right things with the right people a lot simpler. Huddle lets you send super-fast messages to the people you care about most. And no matter where you are, the stream lets you stay in the loop about what your friends are sharing and where they’re checking in” Reads the App Store blurb.
The app itself is pretty neat and very easy to use – I’ve been putting it through its paces on my iPhone 4 since the release last night. Open the app and enter your login credentials and you’ll be taken to a menu page, similar to that of the Facebook app for iPhone. Here you can choose Stream, Huddle, Photos, Profile, Circles or Notifications – which appear as a bar at the bottom of the page, just like the Facebook app.
Checking in is nice and easy thanks to a Tick symbol in the top right corner of your stream. It works really well, instantly bringing up a list of nearby places from Google’s endless location catalogue.
