HP Pre 3 Hitting UK Before End of August

  • by

HP’s Pre 3 smartphone could be hitting UK stores before the end of the month, according to HP’s General Manager of Personal Systems Group, Paul Hunter.

Paul spoke recently to ZDNet UK and confirmed that the third Pre smartphone would be “coming this month” to stores across the UK. He couldn’t confirm exactly when, nor when the handset would go on sale elsewhere, though we’d imagine that most other European countries will get the handset on the same day.

Play.com had already shown (and still show) the Pre 3 to be released on August 31st, so we’re guessing it will land during the last week of this month.

The HP Pre 3 has been delayed for some time now due to HP acquiring the original creators of the Pre smartphone, Palm. It is the most powerful Palm smartphone to date, featuring the newest webOS 2.2 operating system that has been co-designed by both HP and Palm.

Specifications are impressive but not groundbreaking considering some smartphones that are already on the market today – a 1.4GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 5-megapixel camera and a 3.58-inch 480 x 800 capacitive touchscreen.

Mr. Hunter’s vague confirmation of a release schedule leaves us guessing at the exact date. We’re pretty certain that the handset won’t sneak on sale tomorrow so that leaves us with 28 days to play with – 20 if we discount weekends!

Which day will we see the HP Palm 3 hit stores in the UK? Place your bets now!
