Ubisoft has announced that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Unity DLC will now be free to players.
The move to make the Dead Kings DLC available without charge comes with the intention of compensating gamers for a bounty of issues which came about at the launch of Assassin’s Creed Unity on Xbox One, PS4 and PC (but not Wii U) in mid-November.
Company boss Yannis Mallat addressed that the overall quality of the game had been “diminished by bugs and unexpected technical issues” and announced the good news on the Ubisoft Live Updates page where he said:
“To show our appreciation for your continued support, we’re making the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Unity Dead Kings DLC free for everyone.”
Early purchasers of Assassin’s Creed Unity, the twelfth title in the popular historical series, were plagued with problems including massive gaps in the online play which saw characters with missing faces and characters merging with environments as well as randomly falling through the floor into infinite nothingness. Also See: Assassin’s Creed Unity Glitches Will Haunt Your Nightmares
Patches have since been released to remedy the glitches on all platforms but publisher Ubisoft is doing its best to keep its customers upset to a minimum by softening the blow with free content which will also include a spin-off game called Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China.
But it’s not only free Assassin’s Creed content for all and Mallat adds:
“For Season Pass holders, we will also offer the choice of one additional game from a selection of Ubisoft titles for free.”
Those free games include the following Ubisoft titles which must be claimed by Season Pass holders by March 15th:
The Crew
Far Cry 4
Watch Dogs
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag
Rayman Legends
Just Dance 2015
It’s not been smooth sailing for Ubisoft in recent times, and the company has been slammed for it’s distancing from Nintendo’s Wii U and it’s lack of female characters in the Assassin’s Creed Unity multi-player mode.
