The Terminator films, the originals are a cult classic… The new ones divide opinions. Which ever group you sit in check out the trailer for the new Terminator Genisys, it looks incredible.
Genysis is both a sequel to and a reboot of the original 1984 Terminator film that doesn’t really make sense so I’ll try to explain, Essentially it’s the same time frame as the first movie, a terminator sent back in time with the intention of killing Sarah Connor thus preventing John Connor from ever being born. Kyle Reese in both movies is also sent back by future John Connor to save her from the Terminator, that’s where the similarities end, this movies sees a twist Sarah is no longer a waitress with no idea of her fate. She’s now more Sarah Connor Chronicles and she has her very own Arnold Schwarzenegger T-800 to protect her.
Genisys stars Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, and Jai Courtney as Reese. Schwarzenegger, who played the Terminator in the original films, plays an old model T-800 robot in the new film. Jason Clarke plays John Connor.
Yesterday, ahead of the main trailer launch, the filmmakers unveiled a 15-second teaser, which included a brief shot of a shapeshifting, liquid metal T-1000 Terminator, and a glimpse of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 Terminator.
The plot summary says the film is set in 2029. The Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor is still the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post-apocalyptic California.
One weird twist we see and has been raised in some of the release announcements for the fifth instalment in the Terminator franchise, Is in this timeline, it transpires that Sarah Connor was orphaned by a Terminator at age 9. Since then, in a move that has caused some divide amongst die –hard fans of the original, Connor has been raised by an older T-800 , programmed to guard rather than to kill, whom she refers to as “Pops”.
We can only hope this film lives up to the original franchise, I’m glad to see Arnie is back… Genisis
