Man Builds Incredible iPhone 4 Tabletop PC – Runs Windows 7 & Mac OS X

Sometimes you stumble across something in the gadget world that is just so awesome you struggle to close your gaping jaw. Today The Gadget Helpline came across one of those moments, and we just had to share it with you.

German inventor and all-round genius Benjamin Bachmeier decided that either his iPhone 4 wasn’t big enough, or that he needed to combine every gadget he owned into one big gadget behemoth, or both, and created something incredible; iTableous.

iTableous is a large table-sized exact replica of a white iPhone 4, which looks so realistic Apple could have built it themselves. The giant iPhone weighs 84KG and sits atop a white stand, looking like tabletop PC of sorts.

The screen itself a Toshiba 40” screen capable of displaying Full HD 1080p content in stunning quality with a content ratio of 45,000:1. Inside the base of the table is a computer with a 2GHz processor, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB Hard Drive which is capable of booting either Windows 7 or Mac OS X, which is then displayed on the large iPhone screen.

Benjamin didn’t stop there though, in his demo video of the incredible device we see a Playstation 3 tucked away inside the stand, playing through the same 40-inch screen.

The attention to detail is incredible, with speakers placed in both speaker vents at the bottom of the iPhone, and one large subwoofer sitting in the camera socket on the back. Just below the camera socket is a very real, very bright working flash. Ben has cleverly placed a 5.7-megapixel camera into the same slot as you’d find the Facetime front camera on the iPhone 4, and it even works for video calling with both Mac and PC.

There’s also a dock connector hidden beneath the home button for docking real-sized iPhones and such, plus HDMI and USB connections for plugging in other devices.

Perhaps the most gobsmacking part of the video is when Ben shows how the display tilts upwards from the base on two custom-made curved hinges to sit vertically, like a normal TV.

Sadly the project was a complete one-off and no more iTableous’ will be made. This beauty took Benjamin Bachmeier 4 months in total to create, and we have to take our hats off to him. Well done sir!
