The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has once again been teased – this time in it’s biggest leak yet just hours before it’s first public outting! A Japanese network has revealed a new promotional graphic of the Google-based smartphone and suggests it will be selling the anticipated gadget from November.
The snap from NTT DoCoMo network, shows the former Nexus Prime posing on a glass podium, with screen illuminated to feature Google+, GMail, Google Maps and Android Market icons along the bottom of the display and the only English besides the name ‘Galaxy Nexus’ reads Android 4.0 – presumably then this is the number for Ice Cream Sandwich which will be optimised on the Google / Samsung joint venture.
As for spec the Japanese co. claims that the Galaxy Nexus will feature generous 4.65-inch 720p Samsung-exclusive AMOLED and come in choice of 16GB and 32GB with 1GB of RAM – running on a 1.2GHz CPU. Near Field Communications and Bluetooth connectivity are expected, supporting the upcoming Google Wallet and the 5-megapixel rear shooter with LED flash will record 1080p High Definition video.
After being pushed back earlier this month following the iPhone 4S launch and the passing of former Apple CEO Steve Jobs (neither suggested to be the cause of the postponement), we can expect the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to debut this week, after much rumour and hype surrounding the ‘Something Big’ which was due to drop last week. Samsung and Google’s union have kept card close to it’s conjoined chest but it hasn’t stopped the internet buzzing with speculation. We’re looking forward to seeing how much of this information rings true when the big one finally drops tomorrow!
This triumphant launch will follow Samsung’s report that the highly popular Galaxy SII smartphone has now reached 30-million sales worldwide.
UPDATE: CNET have shared another, clearer, photo of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software running on Samsung Galaxy Nexus handset. It looks a lot like Honeycomb, reflecting that dual-purpose smartphone and tablet platform we’d been promised.
