After decades of building block fun and a range of entertaining and successful video games in recent years, Lego has made an inevitable leap forward and has announced a physical toy and software combination in the Skylanders/Disney Infinity format which they are calling Lego Dimensions.
Expansion packs based around Back to the Future, the Lego Movie, Ninjago and The Wizard of Oz will offer more figures, vehicles and items and will of course be sold separately. When used in co-operation with each other in the Lego Dimensions game these packs will build a more immersive gaming experience as well as a nice collection while also adding to the profits for Danish company Lego with a new toy line, which is sure to be a Christmas top seller.
With so many licenses in its toy box from DC Comics and Marvel’s Avengers to Harry Potter and the recent additions of Back to the Future and Jurassic World, Lego Dimensions has massive appeal and the potential to be even larger scale than Disney Infinity. It’s only just been announced but with the prospect of playing a game where we can build Lego, and where Marty McFly, Batman and Gollum can co-exist in the same gaming universe, this is action we want a piece of!
