Last month Lego introduced us to its answer to Disney Infinity with a new collectable toy range/next gen video game called Lego Dimensions and we were delighted by the sample line-up of licenses the Danes were letting us play with when the first sets go on sale on September 29th.
Alongside the previously announced characters and scenarios from silver screen greats such as Back to the Future, Lord of the Rings and The Wizard of Oz, pictures have just dropped of even more expansion packs for wave one which include Doctor Who, Portal 2, The Simpsons, Scooby Doo and Jurassic World.
Thanks to a buildable base/gateway which follows the Skylanders format and is supplied in the starter pack, all these nerdalicious franchises, or Dimensions, can co-exist in the same video game in a way that will blow the mind of any movie or sci-fi geek! We’re particularly excited by the addition of Doctor Who after it only recently became official that the Timelord would feature in his own buildable sets. His expansion pack features a Lego likeness of the Timelord’s twelfth regeneration as played by Peter Capaldi and also includes the time travelling TARDIS and robotic dog K-9.
The new images were presumably leaked as all trace of them has been removed from the Lego website from where they were obtained – but fortunately not before a few sources scooped them up!
Lego Dimensions will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and sets will include a $99 starter pack with gateway, three mini-figs of Batman, Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings and Lego Movie heroine Wyldstyle and also a Batmobile.
Add-on sets will include Level Packs, Team Packs which offer a selection of four minifigs, vehicles or items, as well as Fun Packs containing two minifigs in each.
