We were thrilled when it was announced that Friday the 13th’s maim man Jason Voorhees would be making his debut in the Mortal Kombat franchise as a downloadable character in the newest game.
With an on-screen killing spree spanning 35 years, 10 gore-soaked sequels, a fairly decent remake and with a career body count of over 150 victims who better to join the fatal fun than ol’ hock-head?
But what evils truly lurk beneath the mask?
Well thanks (but no thanks) to a mod for the PC version of Mortal Kombat X called Camera Hack, video game Jason has been spotted without the goalie gear and it’s really, really underwhelming.
Throughout the three decades in his reign of terror, horror fans waited in fearful anticipation for the moment when in each Friday the 13th movie Jason’s mask would drop, revealing his grizzled and deformed mug. Despite a number of re-imaginings thanks to special FX masters such as Tom Savini the look was always sure to shock. Literally a face only a mother could love. However, Voorhees’ latest face in Mortal Kombat X (a face the developers NetherRealm Studios never really intended for us to see) is actually fairly normal. He just looks like a bald guy with a bit of a skin disorder with nothing remaining of the man behind the mask that we’ve come to expect.
The inclusion of Jason and his trusty machete as part of the Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack DLC is still really freaking cool and unless you choose to use the mod for PC the character will remain masked so we can probably forget we ever saw this.
Fans of the slasher flicks should check out the Krueger Kollectables page on Facebook. We hear it’s very good.
