LG will release not one, but three variations of its new flagship Android smartphone, the G4. The first – a standard model, went on sale in South Korea on April 29th and will reach Europe in the coming weeks and we now know that it will be joined by both a larger and smaller model at some point afterwards.
The noticeable difference between the initial LG G4 and its new siblings will be screen size. The original model, featuring a 5.5-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display, will be joined on either side by the LG G4c which will come with a 5-inch display and also the LG G4 Stylus, a phablet equipped with 5.7-inch screen and a stylus for writing and drawing on it and making benefit of the full display, which thanks to a narrow bezel covers much of the device’s front surface.
Other specifications include 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU with 4G/LTE support for both the G4c and G4 Stylus, with the option for 1.2GHz dual-core processing and 3G on the Stylus version as well for the slightly more conservative user. Camera tech will differ a bit too, with the G4c featuring a 8-megapixel main camera and the G4 Stylus boasting 13-megapixels, which is actually a couple notches down from the regular G4. Both of course come running latest Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The LG G4c will be available in Metallic Gray, Ceramic White and Shiny Gold and the G4 Stylus will come in Metallic Silver or Floral White. Neither have price or availability information yet – nor do we have a date for the UK release of the standard LG G4. But mobile manufacturers don’t hang around when it comes to releasing options for their top-end handsets and just yesterday Samsung announced two new colour variants for its Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
With every size, shape and colour out there to choose from does this market saturation really help you as a buyer – or do you like the selection?
