U.S Cinema-Goers Can Join the Smartphone Resistance in Terminator Genisys: Revolution

Selected cinemas in the United States are actually encouraging visitors to use their smartphones while in the theatre when they go to see the upcoming sci-fi flick Terminator Genisys.

Audience members will be invited to connect to the Wi-Fi at AMC IMAX cinemas in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and Dallas and participate in three multiplayer man-versus-machines scenarios using the Terminator Genisys: Revolution app game by Glu Mobile which was recently released on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store for Android.

The game is set in the bleak future after Judgement Day and the audience will form part of the resistance with prizes including limited edition posters awarded to the winning teams. Playing the game on a mobile before the movie begins will also act as an interactive prelude to the story fans have been eagerly waiting for in the new Terminator sequel/reboot, which once again stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the T-800 cyborg – offering a one-of-a-kind, immersive and technologically enhanced experience for the lucky cinema-goers.

Film producers Skydance and Paramount Pictures worked with interactive entertainment Audience Entertainment to bring a new dimension to the Terminator movie universe and CMO Adam Cassels said in a statement: “This is a true breakthrough for the movie industry”.

He adds “Video games are a multi-billion dollar industry, and merging that with the movies in a way that’s interactive, fun and truly memorable is a very exciting proposition for an industry seeking to innovate. This breakthrough may be equally exciting for the video game industry. The movies offer the very best in screen and sound while providing audiences with a first of its kind, collective, in-person gaming experience.”

The Terminator movie series is loved by many fans and has always been on the cutting edge, from the movie-making techniques and special effects to fan interaction with experiences like the T2 3-D: Battle Across Time attraction at Universal Studios, Florida.

The game goes live in specific AMC IMAX cinemas on July 1st when Terminator Genisys is released nationwide in the U.S.
