One of the new duo of Nexus smartphones, the Nexus 5X, has gone on sale in the UK – meaning you can order the Android 6.0 handset right now, but you’ll still have a couple days to wait as the device will begin shipping on October 22nd.
Google is also taking orders for the Nexus 5X from buyers in the United States, Canada, India, Ireland, Korea and Japan with these stock also hitting high street shelves and network providers in these countries from Thursday. The Nexus 5X handset only (SIM-free unlocked) will start at £339 direct from Google with a choice of 16GB and 32GB storage on offer and colours Carbon, Quartz and Ice are available.
Let’s talk about specs..The Nexus 5X is the smaller of two recent Google smartphone launches and was made by South Korean co. LG. It features a 5.2-inch FHD LCD touchscreen display at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 with 423ppi. Like with the Nexus 6P, the Nexus 5X screen is defended by a toughened Gorilla Glass.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core 64-bit CPU keeps this one ticking with a clocked speed of 1.8GHz with graphics processed by Adreno 418 GPU. 2GB of RAM comes on-board and internal storage options come in choice of 16GB and 32GB.
The Nexus 5X offers 12.3-megapixel rear shooter with dual-flash and laser focus and it’ll also offer 4K video capture like the Nexus 6P. The front-facing camera comes in with reasonable 5-megapixels. The fingerprint sensor also makes it over to this handset and the battery size on the Nexus 5X is 2,700 mAh and provides an average 3.8 hours between ten minutes of a mains supply. 4G/LTE, Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth 4.2 are supported for your connectivity needs.
The Nexus 5X is on sale now in the UK and USA with other regions including much of Europe expected to get their shipments soon after.
