Argos Recall on Alba 8GB Tablet 3-Pin Charger Attachment

UK retailer Argos has issued an immediate recall on a power adapter part for a handful of its own brand Alba 8GB tablets after it was discovered that the 3-pin attachment, which slides on to assemble the charger, could in rare instances come away and cause a safety risk to owners.

The Alba tablets themselves and the USB leads are safe to use with another plug or to charge the device through a computer or laptop but as a precaution Argos is encouraging customers to return or dispose of any suspect 3-pin attachments used for mains charging and order another online.

We have confirmed with Argos that the recall only affects the three-pin charger attachment supplied with the following products:

Alba 7 Inch 8GB tablet sold from July 2015 to March 2016 (Cat Number 447/8975)  http://www.argos-support.co.uk/guides/guide/4478975

Alba 8 Inch 8GB tablet sold from Oct 2015 to March 2016 (Cat Number 439/0967)  http://www.argos-support.co.uk/guides/guide/4390967

Alba 10 Inch 8GB tablets sold from Oct 2015 to March 2016 (Cat Number 297/7533) http://www.argos-support.co.uk/guides/guide/297753

To order a replacement 3-pin attachment, click the relevant technical support link above and select Request Spare Parts from the right hand side of the page and complete an order form. No payment will be taken and a replacement will be issued free of charge with no proof of purchase required. Items will be shipped within 2-3 working days.

Argos Customer Services will also be able to answer questions regarding the recall on 0345 640 3030.

We have been advised that replacements are currently not available in Argos stores but can be ordered over the phone with an Argos support agent.

It’s understood that none of the chargers supplied with the Alba 16GB tablets are affected so there is no need for customers to be concerned about these.
