No jokes. Warner Bros. Interactive has confirmed a delay to Batman: Return to Arkham – the remastered HD duo of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City which was expected for release on July 26th, 2016. They are not yet announcing another date for the title.
The news was announced on the Arkham Knight forums, part of the WB Games Community, by staffer Steve Grayson (as far as we’re aware, no relation to Dick) who states in the official post:
“After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience. We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready. We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans.”
And it seems from the responses on the forum some fans are not best pleased about the unfortunate announcement, but others are actually embracing the delay following the footage that came with the Return to Arkham reveal back in May.
Some point out what was widely reported about the gameplay footage of Batman: Return to Arkham and how it was noted that the “upgraded” character models and environments were in fact no-better, if not worse, than the non-HD earlier versions of the two Arkham games it collects.
