Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Box Leaked – Specs Confirmed Ahead of Launch

It’s an exciting day for Samsung fans and users of Android smart phones, as the Korean company is hosting it’s annual Unpacked event from NYC this morning at 10am (4pm UK) and it’s been confirmed that we will get our first official look at the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

Yes, the next Galaxy Note will defy the conventional numbering system and go from last season’s Note 5 and leap straight to Note 7. You might be asking why – and so are we. But it’s thought that this is to emphasise such a big step up in specification and performance over the previous model, or, as some of us think – with the iPhone 7 expected next month, the use of the number seven might in fact be more significant and is being used a direct challenge to Apple – Samsung’s leading rival in the smartphone arena.

Samsung is going all out to plug this important calendar event and has even promoted the hashtag #GalaxyNote7 on Twitter to raise greater awareness of the big launch and a 30 second teaser recently aired in the company’s home nation of South Korea which through cryptic imagery pretty much confirm a handful of key features. These including fingerprint sensor, dark light photography, waterproofing, a curved screen, more diverse use of the stylus and also that ambiguous naming is referenced once again.

As for the specifications, thanks to a Twitter leak of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 box this morning we have confirmation of the name and that the handset will feature a 143.9mm (5.7-inch) Quad HD Super AMOLED display, 64-bit Octa-core processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. From the photos we can see the Note 7 will also come with support for LTE (4G) networks and will be compatible with Samsung’s KNOX security.

The Unpacked / Galaxy Note 7 launchevent will be livestreamed on the Samsung website later today and the Gadget Helpline will be watching to bring you the official details when announced.
