Netflix has tweeted out a video confirming that its surprise hit telly show Stranger Things will be returning for a second season in 2017.
Stranger Things appeared on Netflix last month with all eight episodes of the ultra-retro sci-fi horror available to stream immediately. We loved the throwbacks to the glory days of 80s VHS classics and the not-so-subtle references to some favourites such as E.T and Stephen King’s IT, as well as that incredible soundtrack featuring a catchy electro-synth theme tune and a moody vintage playlist consisting of quality vintage new wave. Not to mention the Goonie-esque crew of kids that were fantastically well-acted by the young cast who are destined for much bigger stardom. We devoured the whole first season like a hungry Demogorgon but the series left us eager for more – especially when some of the mind-bending mysteries laid out in the first eight episodes were left unanswered.
It was inevitable that a second season would happen, it was just a question of when we would get it and when would it be set. Both of those questions have kind of been answered today, and we know that season two will be available in 2017 and will be set ‘in the fall of 1984..’
The teaser video gives nothing much away, aside from these details, and the following nine titles:
MADMAX
THE BOY WHO CAME BACK TO LIFE
THE PUMPKIN PATCH
THE PALACE
THE STORM
THE POLLYWOG
THE SECRET CABIN
THE BRAIN
and THE LOST BROTHER
Some of these stand out to us immediately as names of eighties movies, particularly Mad Max and The Brain, but we suspect these cryptic clues may be episode titles for season two which is said to coincidentally feature nine episodes.
We await more info and a set release date for Stranger Things season two, and that now famous title font has got us anxious for it to arrive sooner rather than later..
