It’s always nice when small time developers get the big break they deserve, and that is exactly what has happened, as ‘Steve’, the head honcho of the CyanogenMod team, has been hired by none other than Samsung as a software engineer.
CyanogenMod, if you didn’t know, is probably the most used custom software available for Android devices. It also has a huge compatibility base and is officially compatible with a variety of handsets which can be seen here at the official CyanogenMod website.
So the fact that a little developer who created one of the best custom ROMs for Android has been hired as a Software engineer by Samsung is big news, though not quite is big as Google’s acquisition of Motorola into the Borg-like family that Google is creating, but it’s big news none the less.
Steve gave the news in the form of an update to his Facebook employer status, but he was also quick to state that his side project (CyanogenMod) is not affiliated in any way with his employer. Good for us basic ROM flashers who wait like lost puppies for the next update to CyanogenMod!
So hopefully the updates will keep coming and well done to Steve for being recognised for his exceptional work.
