The latest news circulating the tech blogs is that Acer are rumoured to be debuting the Iconia Smart Android smartphone sometime in September.
The device has already had an official announcement by Acer, although since its announcement it has yet to be seen or heard of since. Well that is until now, as Acer Germany have apparently confirmed that the Iconia Smart will indeed be seeing a launch sometime next month.
The Iconia Smart has quite an impressive 4.8-inch 1024 x 480 display, ideal for anyone who enjoys watching films on their smartphone, it should give a better visual experience than most Android smartphones, due to its 21:9 aspect ratio which is more similar to cinema scope displays. So along with the larger screen, users can also expect to get a 1Ghz Snapdragon CPU (although perhaps a bit dated now compared to some other Android devices). The Iconia Smart will be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread will have an 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, Dolby Audio and the usual wireless connectivity you’d expect a device like this to have.
The Iconia Smart is expected to have a launch price of around $730 (around £440) when released.
