iPhone 5 Screen To Be Less Than 4-inches ?

  • by

With only a few weeks until the expected launch of the iPhone 5 – rumour mill is reaching fever pitch and the latest rumour from Digitimes is the iPhone 5 screen could be a lot smaller than we think.

Will the iPhone 5 be much different from the iPhone 4 ?

They are reporting that the ubiquitous “sources in the know” have told them that the new screen will only be 3.7-inches diagonally across.

It had been thought that Apple would increase the size of the screen and shrink the bezel. But the latest rumblings from suppliers suggest that it will remain at under 4-inches.

In other news from the same report, Apple is thought to go back to a metal design for the rear of the phone and do away with the reinforced glass found in the iPhone 4.

Almost all tech commentators believe that the iPhone 5 would come with a 4.2-inch HD touch panel, 8-megapixel camera, Full HD video recording, A5 dual-core processor and new ultra-thin industrial design.

But there have been continuous niggling rumours that the iPhone wouldn’t actually be that much different to the current iPhone 4.

But with the current specs of smartphones from HTC and Samsung way above what the iPhone 4 currently has, can Apple really afford not to raise the bar?

The thought of the iPhone 5 being very similar to the 4 would be a bit disappointing. For me it needs to be a statement of intent – especially in the wake of Steve Jobs’ resignation.

Are Apple seriously going to just try and shrink bezel to trick you into thinking the screen actually bigger than it actually is?

Let’s just hope it’s all hear-say and the iPhone 5 is everything we hope for when it releases sometime around October.
