For a while now Google’s been banging on about its next Android operating system – Ice cream Sandwich. The OS has been designed to merge the gap between the Android experience currently seen on smartphones and tablets, and now, thanks to Google CEO Eric Schmidt, we have a ballpark release date…
In an interview with SalesForce.com, Schmidt claims that the Ice Cream Sandwich release is scheduled for around October or November. He said: “We have a new operating system, internally known as Ice Cream Sandwich for some reason, which is being released in October/November, which everyone’s really excited about.”
As with the previous Android releases, the new UI will probably launch with a new Nexus phone, tipped to be the Moto-made Nexus Prime. Google will be at the AsiaD conference from October 19th to 21st. Will they launch Ice Cream Sandwich then? We’ll keep you update.
