Star Wars: The Complete Saga was released on Blu-Ray for the first time on Monday, packed with some never-before-seen footage and masses of bonus content including some annoying new changes, but to be honest, we love that ‘Galaxy Far Far Away’ and would buy into anything Lucas is selling us. We also like a good party and LucasFilm is set to celebrate the Saga’s Blu-Ray launch with a bang – and a massive lightsaber display off the top of the BT Tower in London.
The tall cylindrical global HQ of British Telecom dominates the London skyline by day, but this Thursday night (Sept. 15th) the tower will become a gigantic galactic spectacle – as the top of the HQ will project a ‘Blue-Ray of Light’ (get it?)
This transforming the tower into a big lightsaber and let’s face it, the tower already closely resembles the movie Jedi lazer-sword’s grip and this tweaked photo from a fellow blog site demonstrates what the amazing saber show will look like on the night. Pretty cool!
The lightsaber will be switched on by Brit actor Anthony Daniels, the man inside the golden ‘droid C3PO – one of the only performers to appear in all six Star Wars movies and the party will invite celebrity fans to meet original cast members. That’s probably means those who have the good grace to actually turn up to these kind of things, such as some of the ‘little guys’ who played Ewoks and X-Wing Pilot #3!
