Vodafone will be allowing it’s customers a three month free period of unlimited data from today in a scheme called ‘Data Test Drive’ and just like before you commit to buying a new ride, you’ll be able to try out all the features and use all the functions to see which mobile package is the one for you.
The first handset on the test drive scheme is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, which also is released publically today. The two will come out hand-in-hand from Vodafone this morning and all future releases will be applicable to the 3 months trial which hopes to make customer awareness about the amount of data they gobble per month, and find the correct tariff before forking out and committing to a 12 to 24 month contract that may not be the right choice.
Vodafone will contact customers via text at the end of the three months to remark about how much data was used and will advise on where to go next – also avoiding any complaints that may come about when you’re not entirely sure you’re paying for what you’ve signed up for.
For now the ‘Data Test Drive’ is free of charge just for new customers seeking a contract mobile through the UK network, but surely the scheme will expand to those already paying monthly for data and call through Vodafone in the coming months.
