More Xbox 360 Fall Dashboard Update Details

More news on the latest Xbox 360 Fall dashboard update, as leaks and Microsoft confirmations have been floating around the place like renegade helium balloons.

While there isn’t yet any confirmation of when the update will be deployed, we do know so far that there are several additional features coming to the Xbox 360 dashboard in the update planned for this Fall/Autumn.

First off, as seen in the leaked video below, the dashboard has been prepped and cleaned up a bit with an all new ‘Windows 7 Phone’-alike look. On top of this the dashboard has now been redesigned for “integrated Kinect and controller navigation,” and also includes a feature known as “Beacons”, a feature for playing with friends online.

Additional features are an apparently revamped Facebook integration system, as well as a cloud storage utility for saved games and Xbox Live profiles. Whether the cloud feature will be extended to full games and Arcade titles hasn’t been confirmed yet. The dashboard now also runs silently, a massive departure from the usual familiar set of sounds that play every time the user moves around the dashboard’s many menus.

Major Nelson of Microsoft and Xbox Live stated that “other features and entertainment partner apps” may be made available during the program period, and that “This is an important program as we continually strive to ensure the reliability of a service that reaches tens of millions globally.”

“We could not do so without the ongoing help of our great community.”
