Calling all dungeon-trawlers: Blizzard has a new deal for you. Anyone with a copy of World of Warcraft that’s already been registered can, at the time of writing, sign up for an annual pass for the game and receive a free copy of the upcoming Diablo III.
World of Warcraft has been an unprecedented smash for Blizzard, but the number of subscribers has dropped from 14 million to 11 million over the last couple of years. While still impressive, the company is obviously on the lookout for ways to secure earnings from the now aging franchise, which is why it’ll happily give away Diablo III in return for your 12 months of locked-in WoWing.
But hang on… Diablo III will launch for around £40, and the annual pass for WoW is £110. The discrepancy doesn’t really add up, which can only lead us to think that it’s a deal that’ll only prove beneficial to those who would’ve bought both anyway. To that end, the deal will also allow dedicated fans guaranteed BETA access to the next WoW launch.
