A Microsoft Surface is a gadget any nerd in their right mind would want; it would replace your coffee table with the coolest piece of tech any of your not-so-nerd friends had seen On the downside there is a chance you would have to remortgage your house, with them selling for around £10, 000.
Well there is an alternative to a Microsoft Surface that will look just as cool and not take selling an organ or re-mortgaging your house to buy.
EXOpc has an alternative: the EXOdesk. It seems to have almost all of the Surface’s magic and it only costs $1,299. That’s within the price justification range of someone who wants to look really, really, really cool!
The EXOdesk is set to be shown off at CES 2012, but the company just released a teaser video which you can watch it below – stick with it, the video gets more interesting the more you watch.
EXOpc says it will only cost $1,299 when it’s released next year at a fraction of the cost of a Microsoft Surface. They’re not giving any indication of the hardware or the screen or computer just yet. But it at looks awesome. With the current Surface incarnation, the Samsung SUR40, costing $8,400, the lower-priced EXOdesk seems like a fun device even if it’s not as capable. We’ll no doubt see more of the EXOdesk at CES but in the mean time check out the video below.

It looks excellent, as an alternative to a surface I would defiantly be looking to one of these, and to be honest I done see how anyone could justify the price of a Microsoft surface, unless you were a multi millionaire big business man type.
