For many, the thrill of being one of the first to own a smartphone running the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software was too much, with thousands picking up a Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone already.
Unfortunately many of the early adopters have experienced issues related to volume control on the device. Some have experienced the volume dropping out completely for indefinite periods of time, sometimes when on calls and sometimes in general applications such as music or games.
Other users have reported little to no response from the volume rocker keys on the phone when pressed, causing speculation to whether the problem could be hardware related rather than a software glitch. However, through testing Google has discovered that the volume rocker becomes unresponsive at the same time as the volume dropping out, and thankfully it’s just a software bug.
Galaxy Nexus owners will be very pleased to know that Google has actually created a fix for the problem and will be issuing it as an over the air software update to the device very soon.
Android news website Android Police sent an official enquiry to Google themselves regarding the issue and have just received official word back from the big G. The response reads:
‘We are aware of the volume issue and have developed a fix. We will update devices as soon as possible.’
Thankfully the issue isn’t hardware related, as we know that having to return your new pride and joy just weeks after buying it can be the worst feeling for a gadget lover.
Stay tuned for a software update in the next week or two, Galaxy Nexus owners.
