Lenovo LePhone S2 Android Smartphone Announced

You may remember we told you earlier this month about Lenovo’s intentions to release a new Android tablet based on the new Ice Cream Sandwich update, which should arrive hopefully before the end of the year.

Well, it would seem that Lenovo has been quite busy lately developing devices, as the company has just announced a new Android smartphone, which is due to be launched in China.

The new Android smartphone will be known as the LePhone S2 and will feature a 3.8-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 480. It will be running Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 and will be powered by a single core 1.4Ghz Qualcomm MSM8225 CPU and will have the choice of 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, or alternatively 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

On the back of the LePhone S2, users will get an 8-Megapixel camera capable of recording HD video in 720p quality. OK, so it’s not the most technically advanced phone in the world – but either way, it should appeal to a vast amount of users who are after a reasonably spec’d phone that will do the basics as well as a few of the extras that the top end devices will do.

Unfortunately there is no news yet as to how much the phone will cost, however we should imagine that based on the spec it will be reasonably priced. If, in the mean time we do find out, you can be assured we’ll let you know.
