Dell Venue Pro owners will be receiving the long-awaited software update to Windows Phone 7.5, aka Mango, very shortly says Dell.
The company announced late last night that it has begun sending out the Mango-themed software update to Venue Pro owners via Microsoft’s Zune PC software.
Users of Dell’s Venue Pro smartphone have unfortunately suffered a longer wait than almost all other Windows Phone owners for unknown reasons, as the 7.5 software update officially began seeding to customers at the start of October.
In updating the Venue Pro, Microsoft has completed the update for every Windows Phone. In just over one month and millions of phones worldwide on different networks, that’s an impressive feat.
The Venue Pro is a decent handset, and one that the team here at The Gadget Helpline have enjoyed using over recent months – particularly our editor who has been using the phone for the past few weeks, and doesn’t seem to want to give it back! It features a large touchscreen with a full physical QWERTY keyboard underneath that neatly slides out.
The first to get their Venue Pro smartphones updated will be those on the AT&T network in the U.S, says Dell.
Microsoft’s update guru Eric Hautala has also posted on the official Windows Phone blog about the update:
“If you (or friends or family members) haven’t installed the update yet, nows the perfect time,” he wrote.
Your phone will notify you when the update is available, or if you’re impatient you can tell your phone to manually check by going into Settings and then Update.
Or, if you’re really impatient, you should be able to force Microsoft’s Zune PC software to find the update right now. Luckily for you we have a guide for that! Check it out here and don’t forget to let us know how you get on.
Vodafone, Orange and Deutsche Telekom users in the UK and Europe have already reported success with the update. We’ll be getting our update on this afternoon with our unlocked Venue Pro, we’ll let you know if we’re successful.
