An all-new, supercharged addition to the all powerful Alienware range has just been announced by Dell.
The Alienware Aurora was first seen via the Dell Community site, and in the press release the writer expresses an important reason as to why the rig is such a great addition to a high-performance gamer’s arsenal: namely immersion. The release highlights ‘dropped frames, low res textures and poor performance’ as the biggest anti-immersion offenders, remarking that they ‘can pull you right out of the game’.
Dubbed as ‘a serenade to raw gaming power’, the Aurora features uncompromising hardware features, such as the generation 3000 series Core i7 six-core CPU, which packs a whole 6 CPU cores and is a great addition to any motherboard in its own right. A ton of high-end motherboard features, overclocked of course, supports the processor, while a combined liquid and active vent cooling system (which means you’ll see the case open and close like some piece of space-age machinery) quietly keeps the whole thing chilly… if it can keep up with the extraordinary amount of heat being generated by overclocked components. Take a look at processor options below.
Processor Options
Intel® Core™ i7-3930K (Six Core, 12MB Cache) Overclocked up to 3.9Ghz
Intel® Core™ i7-3930K (Six Core, 12MB Cache) Overclocked up to 4.1Ghz
Intel® Core™ i7-3960X (Six Core Extreme, 15MB Cache) Overclocked up to 4.0Ghz
Intel® Core™ i7-3960X (Six Core Extreme, 15MB Cache) Overclocked up to 4.2Ghz
Frightening…
As for Aurora’s graphics processing power, the Aurora’s motherboard supports all new graphics card formats and features, as well as the top of the range GDDR5 GPU system. On top of this the rig supports multiple monitors, 1080p resolutions as well as 3D content. A broad selection of GPU options exist as well, and can be read below.
Graphics Options
1GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ HD 6870
1.25GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560 Ti
Dual 1GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ HD 6870 – AMD CrossFireX™ Enabled
1.5GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 580
3GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 590
Dual 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ HD 6950 – AMD CrossFireX™ Enabled
If you’re still not trembling your little booties at this awe-inspiring display of PC badassery, then hear this: the onboard features of the new Aurora are insane, allowing the user to dynamically edit the sound output of the system, how loud cooling devices get and even the colours of the onboard LED’s, all manner of lighting effects (it may even double as a disco light).
In short, a godlike PC for the gamer with a big budget, offering unbelievable performance and features for nearly the same price as a new edition Mac.
