If you’re an avid user of the Skype app on Android, then you might want to head on over to the Android Market and install the newest update which is now available.
Skype has been updated to improve the user interface, improve video calling quality on Tegra devices and to generally spruce things up a bit. Headlining the bill is the ability to send and receive files via Skype for Android. Users will now be able to send and receive pictures and videos using the app, within the text chat feature, just as you can with the Desktop version of the software.
Smartphones and Tablet devices that use Nvidia’s Tegra 2 processor will now benefit from enhanced video calling quality. If you’re not sure if your device features a Tegra processor, just check the box for the Nvidia Tegra 2 logo. We’re talking devices such as the Motorola Xoom, ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, Motorola Atrix, LG Optimus 2X and so on.
With the new update users will easily be able to choose a photo or video from their device’s library to send during a text chat, and the recipient can choose to open or save the file to their Android device. Sending video files will obviously use up a fair bit of data, so we would advise to try and do this only when you’re connected to WiFi, unless of course you have a hefty data plan.
The update is available to download right now from the Android Market, so go check it out and let us know what you think of the new look and new features.
