So, there’ll be no Samsung Galaxy SIII at the Mobile World Congress. Got it. But despite this news coming straight from the Korean horse’s mouth, it’s not slowing the rumour mill one bit. Now speculation has turned to an incremental upgrade, following the pattern of Apple and its recently launched iPhone 4S, Samsung is now said to be arriving in Barcelona with a new handset which will bring a few minor upgrades to the familiar phone and it will be known as the “Galaxy SII Plus”.
Part of an expected Samsung product line-up, being prepped for announcement at the MWC on February 27th to March 1st, the Galaxy SII Plus is detailed to features 1.5GHz dual-core processor, with a WVGA display to rival the Galaxy Note on sharpness but with dimensions closely resembling the original SGSII. The mobile should feature current edition Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, but with Ice Cream Sandwich enjoying a roll out as we speak this could all change by Barcelona.
Sounds a lot like the recently teased Galaxy SII HD which is already available in the US and Australia and was recently teased by a UK retail website before being pulled with Samsung following up with a statement which declared that no, Britain won’t be having any of that. Maybe something else was in the pipeline all along, and we’ll be introduced to it in just a few short weeks?
